Joy Orbison, Marcellus Pittman take over The Hydra for Dekmantel
In the few years since their inception, the Dekmantel crew have carved out a major perch for themselves in Europe, through events and festivals in Amsterdam and further afield, and a solid output via their headhunting label. This summer sees the collective join Love International, Suncébeat and Electric Elephant as they head over to Tisno, Croatia for the inaugural Selectors, with another fine lineup of who’s who in house and techno.
They’ve now become a regular feature on the London landscape too, finding their home at Studio Spaces under the wing of The Hydra. Kicking off the countdown to what will undoubtedly be Dekmantel’s biggest summer to date, this Friday 29th April they return to the industrial environs of Wapping.
Representing the UK and topping the bill on the night is Joy Orbison, who so often brings an unpredictability to his revered, seamless sets, while Detroit veterans Kyle Hall and Marcellus Pittmann compliment the bill deliciously with their more freeform yet high octane mid West style.

Hall’s pounding, free spirited and exhilarating chords and drums on Wild Oats and Hyperdub have proven instrumental in his rise to prowess in the techno scene, while Pittmann, one quarter of Three Chairs, first raised heads on Theo Parrish‘s Sound Signature back in 1999 with the incredible Essential Selections Vol.1, and brings his exhilarating fusion of up-tempo disco, funk and soul.
Joey Anderson, JuJu & Jordash, I-F and the Dekmantel Soundsystem make up this monumental lineup and without doubt one of the bank holiday’s top tips this weekend.
