Premiere: Reykjavik606 – Lake Nakaumi

Reykjavik606 is the latest signing to Bilbao based label Forbidden Colours, the mind space for experimental Basque producer Aitor Etxebarria that pays homage to Ryuichi Sakamoto‘s timeless classic.

The group is comprised of self-confessed ‘modular nerds’ Kino Internacional and Borja Piñeiro, and tomorrow sees the release of their debut 12″ Everything Happens For A Reason with a pair of ambient offerings, coupled with a robust remix from Kastil.

The influence of the rural Japanese landscape on both artist and label is clear on the blissful B-side ‘Lake Nakaumi’ and there’s an ethereal quality to it’s mesmerising collage of hydrosonics, delayed keys, brooding pads, and industrial stabs. Think Tomoko Sauvage meets Brian Eno.

Everything Happens For A Reason is out on Dec 15th via Kompakt.
