Five Essentials: Jonny Cade

Five Essentials: Jonny Cade
Adam Tiran

Emergent young producer Jonny Cade first popped onto our radar back in 2012 when he featured alongside a stellar lineup on the Flux vs 2020 Vision boat party at Dimensions Festival, delivering that day an incendiary set of garage-infused house that aligned perfectly with the sun-kissed environs of the Adriatic Sea. Picked out by fellow Tring native Huxley, Jonny has since carved out an impressive production repertoire with a slew of alluring releases on Leftroom, MoodMusic and Kolour Recordings and now returns to the label that first championed him with a slick EP for 2020 Vision.

Offering up four tracks of groovy house that are as bass-laden as they are dreamy, Find My Way sees Jonny quickly climbing the ladder toward underground stardom and has secured him lucrative forthcoming releases on Lost My Dog and Hypercolour‘s sub-label, Losing Suki. In light of this, we asked Jonny to lay down his essential five tracks of the moment, which you can stream in the playlist below.

Sandy Rivera & Noir – Sotom (Jimpster Remix)

Well, I love arpeggiators when they’re used right and this is a perfect example of a decent arpeggiator. Jimpster knocks it out the park with every song he releases. He’s a true inspiration to me and the music scene in general. I’ll never grow bored of his music.

Tensnake ft. Flora – Look Right Through (Medlar Remix)

I received this record via promo and couldn’t believe how good it was. There are so many people trying to emulate a decent piano record these days but this really tops them all, plus towards the end Medlar smashes out another great arpeggiator!

Timo Maas – Tantra (Tom Demac Remic)

This one’s a little more underground then the others. Demac is a badass at creating weird sounds that no one has made before. This track is made up of a weird eerie bass line accompanied by some melancholy sounding brass stabs. Really cool track to drop late on in a club. It can mess with peoples minds. It’s also available for free download on XL8R, get it here.

DJ Yellow Flowers & Sea Creatures – No One Gets Left Behind (Konstantin Sibold Remix)

This one is again different from the others. To be honest I don’t play this track much in clubs but it’s such a good tune I wanted to include it in this list. I’m getting more and more into the laid back techno sound. It’s such a simple track but has so much impact because of the amazing vocal.

Huxley – Inkwell

I feel this list wouldn’t be complete without a track from Huxley. This is sure to do big things for him.

Find My Way is out now on 2020 Vision.
