It should come as no surprise to you, dear readers, that Dutch EDM DJ and producer Chuckie is not someone that we would usually cover, nor in fact anyone associated with that most bro-centric of genres. However, on this occasion Atlantic Records have enlisted the talents of UK funky stalwart and long-time Rinse FM ambassador, Roska (Roska Roska) for this remix of Chuckie’s latest track Skydive.

Despite the sound that characterized his early career dying an unfortunate death a couple of years back, Roska is one of the few from that funky scene that has managed to stay relevant, reinventing his style alongside the rejuvenated garage sound in recent years and it’s in that vein that he’s taken to this latest remix.

Blending some of his trademark bongos into a stilted 2-step beat, with lush underlying pads and even accompanied by the error sounds of a Macbook, he draws for the rawer elements of the original and manipulates Maiday‘s otherwise pretty damn cheesy vocals into a glitchy crescendo that suits the fragmented rhythm.
