UE.20: Alex Crescent

UE.20: Alex Crescent

Regular readers of this site should by now be familiar with the workings of London-based label The Crescent. The imprint which began life in the midst of the Autonomic heyday has since walked the tightrope between bass music, 2-step, dub techno and ambient electronica, through its consistently innovative output. With an alumni that includes Mode, Troy Gunner, eleven8 and Rowl, The Crescent’s back catalogue is proof of its commitment to championing dubbed out underground music that’s full of potential.

It’s the brainchild of West Londoner Alex Crescent, who’s been steadily plying his trade as an exceptionally versatile DJ across the City for the past few years, with a residency at Brixton-based house night Saints Don’t Sleep and regular appearances at throwback hip hop showdown So Fresh So Clean. With the label’s latest release, a beautiful 3 track EP from Gacha Bakradze that takes in Four Tet-esque instrumental 4×4 and shoegaze house, out earlier this month, we asked Alex to drop one of his trademark genre-bending mixes for a taste of what’s to come from this effortlessly forward thinking imprint. Dubs galore in this one so no track list this time, just enjoy the ride.
