Happy Ne.. Oh it’s February already and we’ve been somewhat slack on the articles largely due to the excessive Christmas weight gained from a glutinous festive period. But rest assured, UE is not going anywhere and what better way to, ahem, start the year than a round up the aural delights 2015 has to offer us.

Beginning in the familiar 170 BPM playground, BMTM sees long time, magnificently bearded New Zealand based RQ step out of the shadows to deliver some delicious GLR vibes with Shimmer/Traces. Laced with uplifting melodies and intricate drum work this is certainly not one to miss for the more refined D&B fan.

Moving on swiftly, we have the evergreen Samurai Music. The tail end of last year saw label owner, Geoff Presha, deliver a mix and interview for TEA promising a new HORO:EX label that plunges the already impossible-to-categorise to new depths; with a label policy of specifically NOT being in any way related to drum and bass. The grey area, displayed in vivid detail in the accompanying mix, paints a promising portrait for the future of the Horo twins and experimental dance music as a collective.

Last but by no means least, is news that has the potential to deliver shock waves through the community. Kiyoko‘s superb debut album Sea of Trees is finally getting the wax treatment nearly three years after its initial release on ASC‘s Auxilliary imprint. After a quiet 2014 due to distributor issues, this sparks a revival for the label. With more yet to be confirmed releases, Phase 3 has well and truly been initiated.
