UE.12: Jae B

UE.12: Jae B
Adam Tiran

Well hello and Happy New Year to you all, folks.

Our first mix of 2013 comes from a burgeoning new talent whose bouncy and refined tracks have slotted perfectly into the current vogue of warm, bass-heavy deep house that’s sweeping the nation.

The South London-based Jae B has already had a brace of releases on Miami label petFood, including his most recent offering (under the guise of Barrington) – the anthemic, sombre Is It True featuring vocalist Daj, and with more in the pipeline, he’s proof of the age-old caveat that – all too often – it’s about being in the right place at the right time.

So, first things first. Who are you and where are you from?
I go by the name of Jae B, an abbreviation of my real name. I’m from London.

How would you describe the music you make?
Honest, deep and true to the person I am.

Tell us a bit about your journey into making music.
It’s been a very long journey. I have always been involved with music from my early teens, but due to life circumstances I didn’t get the opportunity to create music then. Within the last few years I’ve been fortunate to proceed with that vision, so I’ve been hard grafting since.

Which other artists would you say have influenced and are currently influencing your sound?
I couldn’t really say a particular artist directly influences me, but I’m heavily influenced from the early London underground scene.

Can you tell us a bit about the mix you’ve done for us? What was the inspiration behind it? What equipment did you use?
The inspiration behind the mix was to create a nice vibe. I used a pair of cdj’s for the mix.

Where can people hear more of your work?

Any upcoming gigs?
I will be playing in Shoreditch early New Year. So keep an eye out.

Any words of wisdom for our readers?
Spread the love.

And finally, what is the one urban essential you just couldn’t live without?
It would have to be Logic Pro.

A man of few words, Jae B allows the music do the talking with this high-octane mix. Listen and download below. The Is It True EP is out now on petFood.
