Premiere: Bolz Bolz - Practice Paris

Premiere: Bolz Bolz – Practice Paris
Joel Cullberg

Cologne producer Andreas Bolz, known otherwise as Bolz Bolz, is somewhat of a trailblazer in the electro world.

Since the ’90s, he’s been releasing gritty mechanical experimentations on his own Electrocord imprint, taking in Parliament-era funk, disco and that ever heralded nucleus between Afrika Bambaataan electro and Kraftwerkian krautrock.

His latest output, his 70th release and a high-octane electro feast in the shape of the 5-track Practice Paris EP, comes courtesy of Tiefschwarz’s Souvenir, which counts Carl Craig and Radioslave amongst its recent contributors.

The title track is an upbeat funk-fuelled pumper that manages to pull off a complex intertwining of genres, with its underlying groovy bassline, synthesised disco jabs and conversational vocal snippets, harking back to Marc and the Mambas.

Bolz Bolz – Practice Paris EP is out soon via Souvenir.
