It’s no secret that the Portuguese capital is one of Europe’s top destinations for electronic music in 2018. Lisboa Electronica Musiculture, Primavera Sound and now Nova Batida – whose inaugural weekend in September looks positively tantalising – are just some of many flying the flag for contemporary electronic music in the idyllic coastal town. But one constant that drives the sound forward all year round is Carpet & Snares, the record store specialising in house and techno run by region stalwart Jorge Caiado.

The label’s second release entitled Choices follows André Leiria’s excellent first, and once again channels timeless astral house a la Prescription and Leapfrog. Here we take a closer look the EP’s opener ‘AP135’ – a frankly gorgeous 6 minutes worth of lapping chords and skipping hats primed for mid-set groove-lock in the dance.

Another release from C&S that bridges the gap between style and substance with patience and drive.
