Premiere: Morgan Geist – Pushed (Mark Broom’s 2018 Re-touch)

After a hiatus of two decades, this month sees the return of legendary Danish techno label Multiplex Records. Over a prolific but short-lived three year period between 1995 and 1998, the label put out a slew of classic progressive releases from John Tejada, CK, Morgan Geist and a wealth of local talent from the Copenhagen scene, including themselves.

Twenty years later, founder Steen ‘Kong’ Mogensen is teaming up with DJ Daniel Kaarill for a timely resurrection of the imprint, kicking off with remixes of two of their most heralded releases, the A-side of which we’re premiering today.

The original of ‘Pushed’ was a cheeky little disco-electro looplet from Morgan Geist, New York’s legendary Storm Queen and once described as “the bald half of Metro Area“. Back then, UK techno don Mark Broom (aka Beard Man) took to remixing it into a hypnotic driver that Muzik Magazine praised as a ’97 essential – and here he offers up a 2018 update that retains all it’s pensive emotion.

The vinyl only release is due later this month, alongside a Kong remix of CH Connection’s ‘Push Me’. Available via Rush Hour.
